Compare Weather Forecast Models

The Forecast Model Comparison Tool lets you compare weather forecast models for any location, including individual numerical weather prediction models and the Visual Crossing Blended Forecast.

Select a location, forecast period, time resolution, and the models you want to examine. You can compare forecasts from models such as ECMWF, GFS, ICON, and other supported forecasting systems, then view the results by weather element. This makes it easy to see where different weather models agree or differ for temperature, wind, pressure, precipitation, and other forecast variables.

For supported elements, the charts can also display forecast spread. Forecast spread shows the variation between contributing weather models and provides additional context about forecast uncertainty. Lower spread and stronger model agreement are typically associated with greater forecast confidence, while larger differences between models can highlight periods where the forecast is more uncertain.

Use the tool to compare ECMWF, GFS, ICON, and other numerical weather prediction models, investigate unusual forecasts, examine model agreement and forecast uncertainty, and understand how the Visual Crossing Blended Forecast combines information from multiple forecasting systems.
