How to sign up for a Weather Data & Weather API Account

Overview

This article describes the steps to sign up for Visual Crossing Weather Data and the Visual Crossing Weather API. In addition, the article describes the steps to view your account information and modify your subscription and payment information.

Navigate to the sign-up page

To start the sign up procedure, navigate your browser to: https://www.visualcrossing.com/sign-up/

Signing up

Enter a valid email as your username and hit continue. Please make sure that this email is one that you monitor often as Visual Crossing will use this as your primary contact, and we may use it to send critical notices about your account.

A validation email code will be sent to the email address that you provide. Enter the validation code in the prompt shown below. If you do not receive the email, please check your junk, trash or spam folder.

Now enter your account password making sure that follows our password rules. Also make sure that you review our Terms & Conditions carefully and then check the box to agreeing to them. Understanding and accepting our terms is a requirement if you want to use our service. While not required, we highly recommend that you check the boxes for the additional notifications options as well.

When your account has been successfully created, you will be shown your API Key. While you may copy it here and store it for future use, you can find it again anytime in your Account page.

We recommend that new users start by trying our Query Builder interface. To do so, simply click the Weather Query Builder button shown. There you can easily run weather data queries, download data in multiple formats, and write API queries that can be used in your own code. You can get started easily by following our Query Builder tutorial.

Alternately, you can press the Account page button to jump to a page showing various details about your account. Here you can do account maintenance functions such as upgrading your subscription, changing your password, changing your API Key, and adding members to your team (on Corporate plans or higher).

Congratulations!

You now have access to the the premiere source of historical and forecast weather data available. Simply follow our online guides, and you will be able to quickly and easily download weather data in common formats such as CSV and Excel as well as add weather details to your own code, app, or script.
